Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Strategist

Firewood Marketing is looking for an outstanding Search Engine Optimization Strategist with a strong background in content strategy. In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with a team to drive the search engine optimization for a major program. You’ll collaborate with internal teams to shape the future of high-performing, data-driven web marketing. You’ll work to identify the team’s website optimization strategies, serving as a thought leader in this area for the broader global long-tail marketing team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Increase Organic Traffic: Own the research and analysis, and content strategy for the client’s website. This includes developing on-page content, competitive SERP analysis, and advising SEO best practices from a content and competitive analysis standpoint.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Advise on SEO progress and keyword opportunity for stakeholders. Measure and report on the effectiveness of SEO strategies in generating increased web traffic and organic revenue. Conduct ad hoc and routine analysis of internal and external data sets, providing leadership insight into market trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Cross-functional teamwork: Work cross-functionally with product and social marketing, creative, and engineering teams to ensure consistency in SEO strategy and analysis. Including assisting on projects and launches in relation to campaign development across channels.
  • Subject-Matter Expertise: Be the SEO thought leader that team members turn to for support on content builds and research strategies.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years experience implementing and managing SEO strategy for enterprise-level websites in a competitive industry with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities in core content marketing initiatives in areas such as keyword research, site architecture and competitive analysis strategies.
  • Ability to develop content audits along with search query, gap and audience analyses.
  • Expert knowledge of SEO tools, including Google AdWords, Google and Bing Webmaster Tools, and hands-on familiarity with Google Analytics.
  • Experience in quantifying marketing impact and SEO performance.
  • Advanced understanding of Google Sheets or Excel (pivot tables, looks-up function, and conditional functions.)
  • Superior communication skills, including the ability to take complex, ambitious topics and create compelling narratives for different audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively make recommendations, and to work with high-level stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to dig extensively into metrics and analytics.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast paced environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of technical SEO (sitemaps, crawl budget, canonicalization, etc.)
